Grant Nursery School
As part of our mission to the community, we seek to serve
and empower families by providing an early start program for
preschool age children. Grant Community Nursery School is
a nonprofit outreach that welcomes, at no cost, all children
(ages 4-5, not yet in kindergarten). Class size is limited
to 20 students.
Mission Statement
The mission of Grant Community Nursery School is to help children
develop basic school readiness skills while encouraging them
to build positive self-identity and self esteem through creative
play, art, music and other activities to enhance learning
in a safe, supportive, healthy, Christian environment.

Program Beginnings
GCNS is located in Community Covenant Church (CCC), and began
as a collaborative effort of St. Stephen’s Episcopal
Church of Edina and Community Covenant Church. Excluding the
Head Teacher and Van Driver, all staff and other workers are
volunteers.
The collaborative effort has been enjoyed by both parties
for approximately thirty-nine years, making it one of the
longest operating and quite possibly, the first joint-sponsored
child care initiative in the Near-Northside Minneapolis area.
The program focus, then and now, is to introduce children
to school readiness skills in a safe, supportive, healthy
environment.
